GTS: Speakers list

As the official Russia representative of GTS I keep on covering the information about the upcoming eight Global Techonlogical Symposium. Today I’m going to tell you the information about key speakers on the conference. All of them are extremely experienced executives and VC’s . They definitely have a lot of information to share with all of us. All of them are going to take part on the GTS on March, 23-25.

Saeed Amidi, Plug and Play Tech Center

Saeed Amidi is a President and CEO at Plug and Play Tech Center. Plug and Play is a large incubator in Sunnyvale, CA which offers a range of services from full service office space to strategic advice to direct investments to start-up companies. In addition, Amidi is the Founding General Partner of Amidzad which he co-founded in 2000. He is a serial entrepreneur and seasoned executive with over 23 years of experience in founding, operating and growing successful companies.

 

Andrey I. Denisov, First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation

Andrey I. Denisov is the First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation. From 2004 to 2006, he was the Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations. Previously, he had been the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from December 2001 to July 2004, and Russia’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt from May 2000 to December 2001.

 

Judith McHale, U.S. Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs

Judith A. McHale is Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, helping lead America’s engagement with the people of the world. Ms. McHale is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Discovery Communications, the parent company of the Discovery Channel, a far-reaching and renowned global media enterprise with 1.4 billion subscribers in 170 countries. In 2006, after nearly 20 years at Discovery, Ms. McHale started a new phase of her career in partnership with the Global Environment Fund, a private equity firm based in Chevy Chase, MD. Ms. McHale worked to launch the GEF/Africa Growth Fund, an investment vehicle intending to focus on supplying expansion capital to small and medium-sized enterprises that provide consumer goods and services in emerging African markets.

 

John China, Silicon Valley Bank 

John China is head of relationship management for SVB Financial Group. In this role, he oversees all aspects of SVB Financial Group’s relationships with the venture capital and private equity communities. He is currently a board member of ASTIA and the California Israel Chamber of Commerce, and previously served on the advisory board for the Executive Roundtable of New York City.

 

 

William Bao Bean, Innov8 Ventures

William Bao Bean is Managing Director at SingTel Innov8, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SingTel Group, a corporate venture capital fund, with its own set of decision making, approval and funding processes. William has been Managing Director at Singtel Innov8, a strategic investment fund backed by Singtel Group and focused on the technology, media and telecom sectors, since November 2010.

 

Ray Milhem, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority 

Ray Milhem currently holds a position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Dubai Silicon Oasis. Dubai Silicon Oasis operates as an integrated microelectronics technology park in Dubai. It provides facilities for the microelectronics and the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, Milhem was the Director and Chairman of the Board at AdvancedIO. He is also a Venture Partner at ME Venture Partners, a seed/early stage fund that seeks to fuel technology innovation in the Arab world.

 

Vish Mishra, The Indus Entrepreneurs 

Vish Mishra is Venture Director at Clearstone Venture Partners and a President of The Indus Entrepreneurs Silicon Valley. TiE is a not-for-profit network of entrepreneurs fostering entrepreneurship, mentoring and education. Members of TiE attend meetings in various chapters, exchange ideas and build partnerships to start new companies or ventures.

 

Viktor Vekselberg, Skolkovo Foundation 

Viktor Vekselberg is a Chairman and shareholder of the world’s largest aluminum producer RusAl, the owner and president of Renova Group, a large Russian conglomerate, the President of the Skolkovo Foundation and also a member of the board of directors and the vice-president of TNK-BP, Russia’s third largest oil producer and among the ten largest private oil companies in the world.

 

 

Joe Golden, China Broadband Ventures 

Joe Golden currently holds a position of General Partner at China Broadband Capital, a China-based private equity firm focused on Digital Media, Mobile Internet and Cloud Computing. Since its foundation in 2006, CBC has won the reputation as one of the most influential investors in telecom, Internet, broadband, media and technology sectors in China.

 

 

Tim Draper, Draper Fisher Jurvetson. 

Tim Draper holds a position of Founder and Managing Director at Draper Fisher Jurvetson for 26 years. DFJ’s mission is to identify, serve, and provide capital for extraordinary entrepreneurs anywhere who are determined to change the world. Since its founding in 1985, DFJ has been proud to back over 500 companies across many sectors.

 

David Lam, WI Harper 

David Lam serves as managing director at WI Harper Group located in the San Francisco Bay Area. WI Harper Group is a venture capital firm specializing in early and expansion stage investments. The firm invests in information technology and life sciences.David also currently holds positions of Advisor at L&L Energy, Inc. and Board President at Asia America MultiTechnology Association (AAMA).

 

Igor Agamirzian, Russian Venture Company 

Mr. Igor Rubenovich Agamirzan is the Chief Executive Officer, General Director, and Director at Russian Venture Company, a government fund of VC funds that channels public incentives to venture capital and financial support to the hi-tech sector. From 2007 to 2009, Igor served as the Chief Executive Officer, Software Development Center EMC2, EMC2 Corporation. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Agamirzan worked as the Chief Strategy Officer and Cabinet of the Chairman of Microsoft in Russia and CIS Countries, Microsoft CEE.

Yigal Erlich, Yozma 

Yigal Erlich is a Founder, Chairman and a Managing Partner of the Yozma Group. Yozma Group has earned worldwide recognition as the creator of the Israeli venture capital industry. The Group targets high-growth companies in the sectors of Communications, Information Technologies and Life Sciences. Mr. Yigal Erlich is the founding father of the Israeli venture capital industry and one of the most prominent figures in the Israeli high-tech arena in the past 15 years.

 

Piotr Gebala, National Venture Fund of Poland 

Piotr Gębala holds a position of CEO at the National Capital Fund of Poland, a fund of funds that invests in private equity / venture capital funds operating in Poland. At the past Piotr worked as Investment Director/Member of the Management Board in Capital Fund of Lublin; then he worked as Investment Director/Member of the Management Board in Fundusz HALS (HALS Fund). Piotr has extensive knowledge and experience in Private Equity/Venture Capital funds, especially in the scope of fund management, investment project analysis and company due diligence and monitoring.

Max Von Bismarck, World Economic Forum 

Since 2006, Max Von Bismaarck is the Head of Investors Industry (Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, Institutional Investors and Sovereign Wealth Funds), World Economic Forum. During 2005-2006 Max was the Deputy Head Strategy, World Economic Forum; Prior to joining the World Economic Forum, Max was a Co-Founder & Managing Director at Public One Strategy Consulting. For his achievements he was presented the McKinsey’s Founders Prize for the state of Berlin.

 

Lorraine Hariton, U.S. Department of State, Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs (moderator) 

Lorraine is currently the Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs at the US Department of State. She actively advocates on behalf of American business and has launched the Global Entrepreneurship Program. Ms. Hariton brings to the State Department more than 25 years of experience in the information technology sector in Silicon Valley. Throughout her business career Ms. Hariton worked with various technologies and products including mainframes, thin-client technology, e-commerce financial infrastructure, internet audio solutions and speech applications.

Aloy Chife, SW Global Limited 

Aloy Chife is a President/CEO at SW Global Ltd, one of Africa’s fastest growing software companies based in Tema, Ghana. SW Global Ltd. has been selected to be the subject of a world-class documentary on the power of the entrepreneur and technology to revolutionize Africa. SW Global today operates in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, India, and Sri Lanka.

 

Claudia Fan Munce, IBM 

Claudia Fan Munce has been the Managing Director of the IBM Venture Capital Group since March 2004. In addition to this role, she is also Vice President of IBM Corporate Strategy. Claudia joined IBM Research Division in 1985 and held many technical and business leadership positions.

 

Rich Geraffo, HP 

Richard T. Geraffo Jr. is a Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the Americas in HP. Geraffo comes to HP from VMware, where he most recently held the position of vice president and general manager, Americas. In this role, he led a number of  field functions. A 20-year-plus veteran of the IT industry, Geraffo also has held leadership positions at BEA and IBM.

 

Pat Hyek, Ernst & Young 

Pat Hyek leads Ernst & Young Global Technology Sector Center. Pat is based in San Jose, California. Hyek has 27 years of experience at Ernst & Young, working with some of the world’s most high-profile technology companies including, Intel, Intuit, Symantec and Xilinx.

 

 

Dan’l Lewin, Microsoft 

Dan’l Lewin, corporate vice president for Strategic and Emerging Business Development, is responsible for Microsoft Corp.’s global relationships with startups and venture capitalists, and business relationships with industry partners such as Adobe Systems Inc. and IBM Corp. Based in Silicon Valley, Lewin also has executive and site responsibility for the company’s operations in Mountain View, Calif., which currently employ more than 2,500 people.

 

Dixon Doll, DCM 

Dixon Doll is a Cofounder and General Partner at DCM. For more than 35 years, Dixon Doll has influenced and guided entrepreneurs, investors and executives in the computer and communications industries. In recognition of his accomplishments in venture capital, Dixon was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 100 venture investors on its Midas List for four years in a row. In April, 2005, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) in Washington, D.C.

 

Bill Draper, Draper Richards 

With over forty years of experience, William H. Draper III is one of the West Coast’s first venture capitalists. He is General Partner of Draper Richards L.P., a venture capital fund focusing on early-stage technology companies in the U.S., and Draper International, a venture capital fund investing in private companies with operations in the U.S. and India. Mr. Draper was founder of Sutter Hill Ventures in Palo Alto, California.

 

Dick Kramlich, NEA 

C. Richard Kramlich is a Chairman & Co-Founder at New Enterprise Associates. Since co-founding NEA in 1978, he has been involved in eight companies that have grown from start-up or near start-up stage to companies with market value in excess of $1 billion, including Juniper Networks, Ascend Communications, ImmuneX and Dallas Semiconductor. He recently joined the board of CITIC Pharmaceuticals in China and is also a director of Silicon Valley Bank. Dick has received four Lifetime Achievement Awards including awards from the National Venture Capital Association, the University of California- Haas School of Business, the Silicon Valley Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Program, and the Red Herring Magazine Award.
